EarGear Web Flashing Tool
Web-based tool to update TailControl™ ESP32 devices in the browser.
This application will install TailControl on EarGear® devices. To get started, connect an EarGear device to your computer with a USB cable and hit the blue button:
How to Use This Tool:
- Using Chrome or Edge, visit this page.
- Plug your EarGear into your computer.
- Click the "Connect" button.
- You should be prompted to select a USB port.
- Choose the entry named “USB JTAG/serial debug unit” (on Windows it looks like “USB JTAG/serial debug unit (COM4)”). EarGear connects through the ESP32’s built-in USB, so that is almost always the correct port.
- Not sure? Open the port list before plugging EarGear in and note what’s listed, cancel, plug EarGear in, click “Connect” again, and pick the entry that just appeared.
- Click the port so it is highlighted and the “Connect” button becomes active, then press “Connect”.
- On Windows the port may instead be labelled “USB Serial Device (COM#)” — that is normal and works. A driver is only needed on very old or restricted machines; the “No port selected” dialog links to it.
- Select "Install TailControl" from the dialog box. It should now start flashing, when it's finished you should have a flashed device!
